Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora Organizations` Joint Forum to Be Held in 2007

A joint forum of Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora organizations acting in different countries are expected to be held in 2007, the State Committee for Affairs with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad told Trend today.

Within I First World Forum of Azerbaijani Intellectual People held June 6-11 in Antalya (Turkey), a joint conference between Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas was held. The Protocol-Agreement on Cooperation, Joint Activity between Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas was signed during the conference. Principles on coordination and close cooperation in the activity of Diasporas of the two sister nations were reflected.

The State Committee told that the preparation for the draft strategy for Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora organizations has been launched. Due to the unified strategy, meetings and discussions with official and non-official representatives of Turkey, Turkish communities in different countries will be held. Turkish and Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations, corresponding bodies of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry, National Academy of Sciences, the Ataturk Culture Centre, and non-governmental organizations are expected to submit their proposals and recommendations on the issue. All these proposals will be considered during the preparation for the unified strategy for the further cooperation and joint activity between the Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas.

The Committee also told that as a result of all that a joint document will be prepared and then submitted to the forum to be held the next year for further consideration. The adoption and signing of the document by the heads of the Diaspora organizations is envisaged during the forthcoming forum
