ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 10. Kazakhstan’s "Passenger Transportation" JSC and Uzbekistan Railways (Uzbekistan Temir Yullari) have agreed to continue developing the "Jibek Joly" project and consider the possibility of opening similar tourist routes in other directions, Trend reports.

In Astana, during a working meeting, the management of JSC "Passenger Transportation" and JSC Uzbekistan Railways signed an agreement on the operation of tourist trains between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and approved the composition of the working group for the implementation of joint projects.

The parties noted the high popularity of the "Jibek Joly" route and its importance for both countries. They decided to continue developing the "Jibek Joly" project and consider opening similar tourist routes to other destinations. In particular, a new international route, "Astana-Samarkand," is currently being considered, which will contribute to the further development of the tourism potential of both countries.

Additionally, at the initiative of the Uzbek side, it was proposed to revise the schedule of train No. 1/2 "Almaty-Tashkent" to make the departure and arrival times more convenient for passengers.

"Passenger Transportation" and Uzbekistan Railways confirmed their readiness to continue developing cooperation to improve passenger service quality and stimulate the growth of transportation between the two countries.

To note, train No. 1/2 "Almaty-Tashkent" has become an important part of transportation links between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Last year, it transported more than 72,000 passengers, highlighting the growing interest in this route. The distance between the two countries is 988 kilometers.
