BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. The number of foreigners and stateless persons who visited Azerbaijan for tourism purposes from member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was 161,541 people from January through May 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that this indicator grew by 29,251, or 22.1 percent, compared to the same period in 2024 (132,290).

During the first five months of this year, people visiting Azerbaijan from these countries spent 265 million manat ($156 million) in Azerbaijan. This figure rose by 47.8 million manat ($28 million), or 22 percent more than in the same period last year. In the same period in 2024, these people spent 217.2 million manat ($127.7 million) in Azerbaijan. The majority of the funds spent accounted for transportation and accommodation.

Overall, during the reporting period, 979,900 foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries of the world arrived in Azerbaijan, or 1.5 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. 17.7 percent of the arrivals were citizens of Türkiye, 8.6 percent of Iran, 3.6 percent of Kazakhstan, 2.8 percent of Pakistan, and 1.9 percent of Uzbekistan, and 1.3 percent of Turkmenistan. 68.9 percent of the arrivals were men; 31.1 percent were women.
To note, ECO includes Pakistan, Türkiye, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
