BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 8. The number of farmers using agricultural insurance provided under a state subsidy is growing in Azerbaijan, the Agrarian Insurance Fund said in a statement, Trend reports.
In the first six months of 2025, the fund made insurance payments to farmers and farms that insured their livestock, totaling 190,000 manat ($112,100), and also payments for incidents that occurred on insured livestock farms in 14 districts of Azerbaijan.
The districts with the top insurance payouts included Goygol, Samukh, Gabala, Ismayilli, Shamakhi, and Ujar.
Due to the 50 percent state subsidy facilitated by the
agricultural insurance framework, producers can underwrite their
livestock with advantageous conditions, remitting merely 50 percent
of the insurance premium.
Consequently, the underwriting for ovine and caprine livestock
valued at 300 manat ($177) initiates at a mere seven manat ($4.13),
while the coverage for bovine assets amounting to 1,000 manat
($590) commences from 24.5 manat ($14.45).
In accordance with the stipulations governing agricultural
indemnity frameworks, it is imperative that livestock be duly
registered within the electronic agricultural information
architecture to qualify for coverage.
