PremiumWB to finance project on improving staff potential of Azerbaijani civil servants

The World Bank launched discussion of a project on improving staff potential of civil servants with the Azerbaijani government within the visit of its mission headed by Elizabeth Vang to Baku, WB Baku Office source said on March 3. 

WB mission's visit will last until March 12.

The project is included in the financial cooperation program 2009- 2010 between the WB and Azerbaijani government. The program also includes projects on IDP assistance and ecological cleaning of the Absheron Peninsula: extension of sewers discharging purified sewerage water to the Caspian Sea.      

The WB has financed 42 projects worth $2 billion in Azerbaijan. In 2008, the bank financed 13 projects worth $1.251 billion. The WB four-year strategic budget was spent during two years. The bank underscored its readiness to allot over $1 billion in 2009- 2010.
