New vehicles will be delivered to the regions of the country after Baku is provided with the London Taxi TX4, announced head of the Secretariat of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Namik Hasanov.

Hasanov said that Daewoo Lacetti will operate in the regions of the country, with 7,000-8,000 taxis planned to be delivered, he said.

Cars will differ in color. Burgundy cars will operate in Ganja, white cars in Sumgait, beige cars in other regions.

Earlier, the Transport Ministry held trainings for taxi drivers in Baku, with about 300 people attending.
Another batch of 200 London taxis were delivered to Azerbaijan in August.

"The previous batch was 100 vehicles," he said. "At present, their total number is 300 units. About 1,000 taxis will be delivered to Baku before the end of 2011."

He said that about 200 cars are expected to be delivered soon. The total number of these cars will eventually reach 3,000 cars.

A supply agreement was signed with Shanghai LTI Company, a joint venture between the Manganese Bronze Holdings and the Chinese Geely Automobile Holdings Limited. It is the company's largest contract, at a total cost of about $27 million.
