ADB to allot over $215 million to Tajikistan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) plans to allocate over $215 million to the realization of its projects in Tajikistan, CA-News reports.

The funds will be allocated within the three-year program, which is expected to get approval in Manila this week, Joji Tokeshi, ADB representative in Tajikistan said at a news-conference in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

The program is coordinated with Tajik government and takes into account the national strategy's priorities.

Within the program the ABD will totally allocate $ 215.5 million, with $62 million to be allocated in 2012 year, $69 million in 2013 year and $69 million in 2014 year. The rest funds will be allotted as free technical aid aimed to reduce poverty in the country, Tokeshi said.

The three-year ADB program includes transport, energy and private sector development projects.
According to Tokeshi, in 2012 ADB also plans to start the reconstruction project of the Ayni-Pendjikent road running from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan.

The project with the cost of $120-$125 million will be implemented in two stages.
