Cement production in Uzbekistan increased by three per cent in January - September 2012 compared to the same period last year - up to 5.2 million tons, a representative of Joint Stock Company Uzstroymateriali told Trend.
In particular, the largest cement producer in the country Kizilkumcement produced 2.5 million tons of cement for JSC Akhangarancement - 1.176 million tons.
There are now six cement plants with a total installed capacity of about seven million tons in Uzbekistan. The largest are Kizilkumcement - 3.15 million tons, Akhangarancement - 1.74 million tons and Kuvasaycement - 1.107 million tons.
According to official statistics, cement production in Uzbekistan decreased by 1.5 per cent in 2011, compared to 2010 - up to 6.698 million tons.
