Consumer inflation hits 0.7 percent in Azerbaijan in October

Prices for consumer goods and tariffs for services increased by 0.7 percent in Azerbaijan in October 2012 compared to previous month, Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.

"The cause of increase in consumer prices was a 1.5-percent increase in the cost of food products and keeping of prices for non-food products and tariffs for services at a stable level," the report says.

During the month, an increase was observed in prices for food products such as flour, bread, meat (beef and mutton), chicken, fresh fish, milk, eggs, oranges, bananas, pears, grapes, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beets, carrots, garlic and potatoes.

A decrease in prices was observed in such foods as buckwheat, butter, vegetable oil, sugar, granulated sugar, lemon, tangerine, apple, quince, pomegranates, onions, greens and cabbage.
