Opening the Dubai Chamber of Commerce's representative office in Baku will stimulate an increase in trade turnover between the UAE and Azerbaijan, UAE Deputy Minister of Economy Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi told media today.
Baku has hosted a business forum between Azerbaijan and the UAE today.
"We are confident that this event will have a positive impact not only on the growth of trade turnover between the countries, which is already growing from year to year, but in general, on the development of economic relations between the two countries," deputy minister said.
He added that the strategic importance of the relations with the UAE was stressed during the meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"UAE entrepreneurs are interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in such areas as oil and gas, tourism, and in particular, logistics," he said. "We intend to cooperate with Azerbaijan in ensuring food security and the construction sector."
According to the State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates exceeded $ 79 million in January-September, where $69.8 million falls to Azerbaijan's share.
