By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

Over the past 12 years, Kazakhstan has attracted about $2.4 billion of direct Turkish investments, Erik Yakubayev, managing director of Kazakh Invest National Company, told Trend.

Kazakhstan, in turn, has invested about $1 billion in the Turkish economy over the same period.

"Since the beginning of this year, 23 projects with Turkish capital worth $1.5 billion have been in the monitoring system of Kazakh Invest, while their number was 13 in 2017," the managing director said.

Current projects are aimed at the development of priority sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan, such as the agro-industrial complex, production of building materials, chemical industry, engineering, mining and metallurgical industry.

"One of the priority areas of investment cooperation is also the implementation of projects on public-private partnership," Yakubayev said.

Thus, in 2018, a project was launched for the construction and operation of the Big Almaty Ring Road with the participation of Turkish Alarko Holding and Makyol and a South Korean partner. Implementation period of the project, worth about $1.6 billion, is 15.5 years. The project is aimed at the construction and operation of a 66-kilometer toll road based on a concession agreement.
