In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), so far, exports from Iran's Dogharoon Special Economic Zone to neighboring Afghanistan increased by 50 percent in terms weight and 180 percent in terms of USD value, executive director of the economic zone Hossein Aghaei said, Trend reports via ISNA.
He noted that the zone is one of the main economic centers thanks to its proximity to Iran-Afghanistan border.
Aghaei further added that Afghanistan's Herat city, which is not far from the Dogharoon economic zone, is also an economic hub. Dogharoon's proximity to Herat has created a safe haven for production, trade and services, he added.
Metals, construction materials, bitumen, fuel, foodstuff and medium-density fiberboard (MDF) are the main export goods sent from Dogharoon Economic Zone to Afghanistan, he added.
