Iran's banking system is obligated to pay $38 billion advances to housing sector said a member of parliament, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Mojtaba Yusefi has indicated banking system has only paid $238 million that was 7 percent of predicted advances for housing sector in 2019. The parliament's budget committee has obligated the government to assign $85 billion advances for affordable housing.
The parliament has set the minimum of $38 billion advances for housing production and the budget law set a ceiling of $85 billion and it was predicted that the banks would pay about $476 million advances in the current Iranian year.
"The income from the tax on empty houses would be used for advances for mass housing producers, low-income people, and construction of affordable housing," he emphasized saying a tax on an empty house is not considered as government revenue.
It is predicted that in the next four years, one million housing units will be constructed annually for low-income citizens.
