Azerbaijan’s Income from Oil and Gas Projects to Exceed Forecasts – Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 February / Trend / A forecast of the funds Azerbaijan will receive from the implementation of oil and gas projects by 2024 was doubled almost to $400bln, the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said in an interview to the European media on 4 February. By 2024, the period of validity of the contract with the consortium of companies headed by BP on the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields will expire.

The income forecast was increased due to the increase in the hydrocarbon reserves in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields, as well as high oil prices in the world markets. "Previously Azerbaijan was expected to receive $200bln," Aliyev said.

According to the Minister, the assets of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan will also dramatically increase to $10bln.
