Sumgayit's landfill for solid waste can produce 1.2 megawatts of electricity, Sumgayit Executive Power said today.
The plant also can produce 30,000 cubic meters of methane, which can be used to produce electricity.
Solid waste are collected at the landfill, 10 hectares of which is fully leveled and covered with soil, and a new landfill that meets modern standards is under construction.
