IRGC signs first oil contract after appointing Gen. Ghasemi as Oil Minister

After the election of the new Oil Minister Gen.Rostam Ghasemi, IRGC's Khatam al-Anbya Construction Headquarters signed its first contract with the National Iranian Oil Company, Pananews reported.

The contract assigns the construction of underground crude oil tanks to the Khatam al Anbya Construction Headquarters.

The plan is to install underground tanks along a 100 kilometer sideline of the Oman Sea and the Persian Gulf.

Deputy Oil Minister Ahmad Ghalebani said earlier that the volume of contracts signed with Khatam al Anbya Construction Headquarters during recent years was $25 billion.

Iran's oil minister Roustam Ghasemi previously served as Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Brig. General and as Commander of Khatam al-Anbya Construction Headquarters.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has officially appointed Rostam Ghasemi as Iran's Oil Minister today, IRNA reported.

The Iranian parliament voted for the candidature of IRGC Gen. Rostam Gasemi for oil minister on August 3.

About 216 people voted in favour, 22 against, 7 abstained.

Brigadier General was the head of the " Khatam al-Anbiya" base, construction unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps , which currently implements most of Iran 's oil and gas projects. Ghasemi resigned from Khatamul-Anbia Company after taking Oil Ministery.

In February 2010, the U.S. Treasury Department has included Ghasemi's name in a " black list" of persons, who are prohibited from doing business with U.S. companies or have accounts in the United States .
