A large gas-chemical complex has been commissioned in the Caspian settlement of Kiyanly (Balkan region, Turkmenistan), a source close to the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan told Trend.
The construction kicked off in 2013. This facility is designed to process 5 billion cubic meters of gas per year and produce 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene.
About 1,200 jobs have been created with the commissioning of the facility.
The project has been implemented by Japanese TOYO and South Korean LG and Hyundai companies. Its total value is over $3.4 billion. The enterprise has been built on the basis of the licensed technologies of the Dutch Ineos, American Greas, Japanese Toyo companies.
The production of polyethylene and polypropylene will be carried out on the basis of the latest technologies with deep cleaning of raw materials from impurities using unique schemes that produce environmentally friendly products that meet the highest international standards, the Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary state news agency reported.
The granulated polypropylene is listed on world markets, used in the manufacture of polymer films, artificial fibers, high-strength sheet thermoplastics, and, accordingly, all kinds of polymer products.
Another product of the complex - polyethylene also has export prospects. It is possible to arrange on its basis the production of a wide variety of pipes and consumer goods. The high density polyethylene is a solid, durable and rigid thermoplastic used for injection molding and blow molding of containers used in household and industry.
