BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. The Serbian-Hungarian interconnector point (IP) Kiskundorozsma 2 has as of today transported about 12.7 billion cubic meters (bcm), the project operator FGSZ told Trend.
“The Serbian-Hungarian interconnector point (IP) Kiskundorozsma 2 was put into commercial operation in October 2021 by FGSZ Ltd. Since then, market interest of the IP has been increasing and it has been actively used by the network users. As of today, the natural gas volume delivered via the IP Kiskundorozsma 2 has totalled to around 12.7 bcm, including the flow of about 1.8 bcm realised since early this year up to now,” said the company.
The FGSZ noted that maintenance of this network point is not scheduled for 2024 by FGSZ, however, our TSO has been notified that due to the upcoming maintenance works planned for the Turk Stream, the capacity of the adjacent Serbian TSO will not be available in early June, i.e. between 4th and 11th.
The Serbian-Hungarian Gas Pipeline is an operational gas pipeline connecting Serbia and Hungary. It spans from Serbia to Hungary, passing near Kiskundorozsma, Hungary, and extending to Városföld, Hungary.
The project was announced in June 2019 by Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, and Serbia's Minister of Energy and Mining, Aleksandar Antić.
In June 2020, FGSZ announced the approval of the development of a new Serbian-Hungarian interconnector capacity capable of transporting 6 bcm/y.
According to the European Hydrogen Backbone project, there are plans for a Hydrogen-ready expansion of the pipeline, set to be operational by 2030.
