BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Budapest will host the third hydrogen summit (conference status) on April 10, with the participation of leading European companies involved in the hydrogen production industry and planning to transport it, the event organizer White Paper Consulting said, Trend reports.
"We will bring together decision-makers and experts from the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region and neighboring regions to discuss hydrogen production and export technologies and find out how this fuel can contribute to a carbon-free future," the event's organizer, White Paper Consulting, noted.
The goal of the meeting is to stimulate cross-sector dialogue for the rapid development of the hydrogen economy.
Among the topics are the role of hydrogen in the energy transition, prospects for the hydrogen market, its production, storage, and transportation, the competitiveness of green hydrogen, the acceleration of financing of green hydrogen projects, and the development of the legal framework.
The speakers include the Director General of Hydrogen Europe, the State Secretary for Energy and Climate of Hungary, the Executive Vice Presidents of MOL and OMV, the General Director of Romanian Transgaz, the General Director of BulgarTransgaz, representatives of Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland, ExxonMobil, and others.
To note, the EU is lobbying for the presence of a hydrogen component in all gas export pipelines from 2026–27, and all European pipeline operators are actively testing their systems with hydrogen pumping in mind.
The first phase of testing of TAP (the European part of the Southern Gas Corridor) has shown the feasibility of pumping 10 percent hydrogen into the total gas mix in the SGC. The second phase will detail the issue.
Azerbaijan is also discussing the hydrogen strategy, which is being coordinated at the level of companies and other structures.
