BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. December 2024 had 16,636 visitors from Central Asian nations visit Azerbaijan, a 27 percent increase over the same month in 2023 (13,122 persons), Trend reports.

According to Azerbaijan's State Tourism Agency, the number of tourists from Kazakhstan totaled 6,572 (up 36 percent year-on-year), Uzbekistan - 5,458 (up 23 percent year-on-year), Turkmenistan - 3,038 (up 16 percent year-on-year), Kyrgyzstan - 845 (up 31 percent year-on-year), Tajikistan - 723 (up 21 percent year-on-year).

However, 180,528 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan in the period from January through December of last year: from Kazakhstan: 86,304 (up 48.62 percent), Uzbekistan: 46,396 (up 16.98 percent), Turkmenistan: 33,020 (up 26.93 percent), Kyrgyzstan: 8,715 (up 49.51 percent), Tajikistan: 6,093 (up 21.62 percent), which is 34.13 percent more than the figure for the same period of 2023 (134,589).

Meanwhile, 2,626,838 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in the reporting period of last year, which is 26 percent higher than the figure for the same period of 2023 (2,085,034).

A staggering 2,086,548 foreign nationals visited Azerbaijan in 2023, which is more than 30.2 percent higher than the figure for 2022 (1,602,600), including 134,589 from Central Asian countries, which is 82.31 percent higher than the figure for 2022 (73,823).

To note, a total of 545,730 people visited Azerbaijan from Central Asian countries in 2017-2023 (from Kazakhstan: 225,124, Turkmenistan: 145,216, Uzbekistan: 135,941, Kyrgyzstan: 21,296, Tajikistan: 18,153).
