BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Cargo transportation by road amounted to 83.6 million tons (56.5 percent) of the total volume of cargo transportation in Azerbaijan from January through August 2023, Trend reports.
According to the data of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, cargo transportation by road increased by 5.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Passenger transportation by road amounted to one billion people from January through August 2023, which is 16.7 percent more than the same period last year. In addition, 94.8 percent of passengers were transported by buses during the specified period, and 5.2 percent by taxis and other private transporters.
In addition, 138.4 million people used the services of the Baku metro (an increase of 7.9 percent).
In general, cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan from January through August 2023 amounted to 148.2 million tons, which is 6.5 percent higher than in the same period of 2022. Passenger traffic in Azerbaijan exceeded 1.2 billion people in the reporting period, which is 16 percent higher than in the same period in 2022.
