ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 2. Kazakhstan has offered Lithuania cooperation in launching container transportation between the countries within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor), said the head of the International Road Transport Department of the Committee for Road Transport and Transport Control of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan Almas Aisin, Trend reports.

He made the remark during the meeting of the Kazakh-Lithuanian mixed commission on international road transport in Vilnius.

"We offer cooperation to the Lithuanian side in launching container transportation between our countries within the framework of TITR. In addition to this, we take this opportunity to invite all Lithuanian companies to take part in the New Silkway Transport Forum, which is planned to be held in October this year in Astana," he said.

He also noted the key role of Kazakhstan in the transit of goods between Europe and Central Asia and emphasized that the country is making every effort to develop transport and transit potential in the region and modernize transport corridors.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.

The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.

The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
