BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 7. The volume of passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 374.469 million people from January through August this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's National Committee on Statistics shows that passenger transportation for this period increased by 28.2 million people, or 8.1 percent, compared to January-August 2023.
Meanwhile, 1.9 million more people, or 4.4 percent, were transported in August this year compared to August 2023. However, traffic was down 28.4 percent from the previous month.
The bulk of passenger transportation (more than 95 percent) was carried out by road transport. A total of 34.9 million people, or 10.8 percent more, were transported by road transport from January through August of the current year than during the first eight months of the previous year.
Specifically, 333.555 million passengers were transported by buses, 24.957 million by cabs, 14.943 million by trolleybuses, and 828,900 passengers by air transport during the reporting period.
The volume of passenger turnover performed by all types of transport from January through August amounted to 6.9 billion passenger kilometers. This indicator increased by 382.8 million passenger kilometers or by 5.8 percent compared to January-August of last year.
