Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi conferred on Sunday with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahayan on expansion of mutual relations as well as regional developments, IRNA reported.
The UAE foreign minister accorded a warm welcome to his Iranian counterpart.
In the meeting, the two ministers expressed satisfaction with prospects of mutual talks.The talks are now underway behind closed doors.
Before the meeting, Salehi conferred with UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on issues of mutual interests. The two sides also called for promotion of mutual relations and cooperation and underlined the need to resolve regional crisis through peaceful means.
Salehi called for immediate withdrawal of alien troops from Bahrain and maintained that the country's issue will be resolved through peaceful means and by listening to he people's demands.
Salehi arrived in the UAE on Sunday morning to confer with the country's high ranking officials on regional developments.
