BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 19. The agreements worth 900 trillion rials (about $1.64 billion) will be signed next week between the private sector and Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization in the field of ports and seas, the Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Ports and Maritime Organization Ali Akbar Safaei told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, a total of 34 agreements are planned to be signed.
Safaei noted that in addition to this, port and maritime agreements with the private sector are planned to be signed within 64 plans worth 720 trillion rials (about $1.31 billion).
The deputy minister added that 28 port supply projects are in the spotlight. In this regard, funds amounting to 1.22 quadrillion rials (about $2.22 billion) are planned to be expended.
To note, Iran's current port throughput capacity is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase port capacity to 500 million tons.
