According to the sources, about 60 clandestine immigrants, including women and children, were aboard the wrecked boat which was heading for Spain.
The accident occurred early in the morning off the island of Perejil, a tiny Mediterranean island which is just 200 meters off the Moroccan coast in the Strait of Gibraltar.
Eleven survivors have been found, including seven women, after Moroccan and Spanish rescuers searched the accident area. They were then transferred to the northern coastal city of Tangiers, with four of them in a bad condition and taken to hospital for treatment.
