Bangkok's international airport will reopen for passenger flights December 15 at the earliest, reported Bangkok newspaper The Nation on its website Tuesday.
Quoting airport officials, the report said cargo flights will begin operating earlier, reproted dpa.
Thousands of anti-government protesters have occupied the airport since last week.
Authorities say they need to check whether technical equipment is still operating properly and whether there was any damage to computer systems and check-in counters during the occupation.
About 350,000 travelers remain stranded in Thailand, according to government estimates. The number is growing dramatically every day, as vacations end and more people seek to return home.
Airlines have attempted to fly vacationers home from other airports, but those do not have anywhere near the capacities required for the number of tourists who want to return home.
