BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. A total of 3.26 million tons of cargo were transported from Belgium to Turkish ports from January through April 2024, Trend reports via the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
According to the Ministry, Türkiye-flagged vessels delivered 12,734 tons of cargo to ports from Belgium, while vessels under the flags of other countries delivered 3.2 million tons of cargo.
During this period, Belgium-flagged vessels delivered 5,645 tons of cargo to Turkish ports. From January through April 2024, 582,585 tons of transit cargo were transported to the ports of Türkiye from Belgium.
In April 2024, Türkiye ports received 34.39 million tons of cargo.
During this period, the reception of cargoes to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.36 million tons.
“Cargo shipments of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to more than 32 million tons,” the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, 6.1 million tons of transit cargo was transported from Türkiye ports in April 2024.
According to the ministry, Türkiye ports received 137.16 million tons of cargo from January through April 2024.
“The cargo flow of vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 10.1 million tons. And by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 127.1 million tons,” the report said.
The report also says that from January through April 2024, a total of 22.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.

According to information, during this period, the number of vessels accepted in Türkiye ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,329, and the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 1,427.
Türkiye ports received 18,477 vessels from January through April 2024.
“During this time, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 12,704 and the number of vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 5,773,” the ministry said in a statement.
