Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade invited Georgian Patriarch Ilia II to visit Azerbaijan at the meeting held in Tbilisi on Monday, CMO Spokesman Rahima Dadashava told Trend.
"The meeting noted the importance of further development of the Georgian -Azerbaijani relations in the field of religion. The sides also expressed support to the Azerbaijani and Georgian Presidents over the issue of support to the territorial integrity of each other," the statement reads.
Pashazade has launched his Georgia visit today. Georgian Patriarch Ilia II and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev met him at the Tbilisi airport.
During the visit, Pashazade visited a bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
