On September 9, the hotline of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan received information regarding pollution in the settlements of Buzovna, Mardakan and near Shimal Electric Power Station zones.
These territories were monitored, but no trace of pollution was revealed in the beach territories, Trend reports with reference to the statement made by the Ministry.
Following up information received, marine piles and platforms were inspected in the field of Bank Darwin, and no trace of a wreck was discovered in the submarine and elevated pipelines. Samples of marine water were taken from Platform No. 11.
The statement revealed that the oil pollution in the region of Shimal EPS may have resulted from the oil tanker belonging to Caspian Shipping Company. The polluted territory is being treated.
It was stated by the Caspian Shipping Company that .at present, negotiations are being held with several organizations regarding the installation of clean-up equipment in the vessels belonging to the State company. Caspian Shipping Company expressed its confidence that in the near future, the vessels would be similarly equipped which would avoid a similar situation occurring.
