BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Azerbaijan's consumers spent a total of 853.6 million manat ($502.1 million) on automotive gasoline and diesel fuel from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that this marks a significant increase of 123 million manat ($72.3 million) compared to the same period last year.
In the first quarter of 2024, Azerbaijan's population spent 730.6 million manat ($429.7 million) on fuel, primarily for automotive gasoline and diesel.
Fuel expenditures accounted for 5.9 percent of the total retail trade turnover during the reported period.
Additionally, in the first quarter, retail sales in Azerbaijan amounted to 14.6 billion manat ($8.5 million), including 8.1 billion manat ($4.7 million) in food products, beverages, and tobacco products, and 6.5 billion manat ($3.8 million)in non-food items. Compared to the same period in 2024, retail trade turnover saw a real increase of 3.8 percent, with food products, beverages, and tobacco showing a rise of 1.7 percent, and non-food goods increasing by 6.3 percent.
