BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. As many as 5.1 million tons of cargo were transited through Iran by trucks in the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 21, 2025), Director General of the International Transport and Transit Office of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Javad Hedayati told local media, Trend reports.
According to him, 4.88 million tons of cargo of this volume were transported through the country's land border customs points.
Hedayati said that more than 775,000 tons of cargo entered, and 4.1 million tons left the country.
The official pointed out that at present, 2,490 companies operate in the field of international cargo transportation in the country, and 60 companies - in international passenger transportation.
According to him, currently, 26 border terminals in 12 provinces of the country operate in cargo and passenger transportation between Iran and neighboring countries.
To note, currently, 2,793 km of highways, 45,170 km of main roads and main roads are in operation in Iran.
