BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Azerbaijan imported 1,412 electric vehicles (EVs) powered solely by electric motors from January through August 2025, with the total cost of these EV imports reaching $44.2 million.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this represents a decline of 559 units, or 28.4 percent, in volume compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports fell by $34.1 million, or 43.6 percent.
In contrast, overall car imports into Azerbaijan continued to rise. During the same period, the country imported 74,481 vehicles for $1.38 billion, marking an increase of 26.4 percent in volume, or 15,542 units, and 24.3 percent in value, or $270.4 million, year-on-year.
Among these imports, vehicles designed to carry ten or more passengers, including the driver, totaled 478 units valued at $43.2 million, while passenger cars and other motor vehicles mainly intended for carrying people accounted for 68,295 units worth $1.24 billion
