In the first quarter, exports of the Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim, in which the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has a shareholding, grew by 50 per cent compared to the same period in 2011 and amounted to $288 million, Petkim told Trend on Tuesday.
In the first quarter of 2011 Petkim exports totalled $192 million. According to the report the share of exports in total turnover of the holding hit 43 per cent.
The turnover of the holding in the first quarter exceeded 1.2 billion lira or 28 per cent more than the same period of last year. Sales volume in the first quarter totalled 491,000 tons or five per cent more than the same period of last year.
Also investments directed at improving production efficiency increased in January-March and reached $15 million.
Previously on March 30, SOCAR Turkey Enerji A.S and SOCAR International DMCC OGG acquired a 10.32 per cent stake in Petkim, increasing the stake up to 61.32 per cent.
Some 38.67 per cent is in free circulation on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Petkim Petrokimya Holding manufactures plastic packages, fabric, PVC, detergents, being the only Turkish producer of such products, a quarter of which the company exports.
