Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon, national carrier Azerbaijan Airlines and Swiss company OnAir have announced the launch of a joint project to render a full range of on board, in flight communication services. The project is being implemented by the Communications and IT Ministry and today the companies presented the project.
At present, mobile communication is being regulated on board by a single ground station based in Amsterdam.
The OnAir Company plans to establish second ground station in Baku with the support of Azerfon in the near future.
The station will distribute the load obtained from satellites ensuring mobile services can be rendered to passengers on board aircraft in other CIS countries.
Communication services on Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft board will be available soon.
Azerbaijan Airlines will be the first company in the CIS rendering communication on board services.
