BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. The total number of accommodations in hotels and hotel-type facilities in Azerbaijan amounted to 868,300 from January through March 2025, up 11.4 percent year on year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that Baku took the lion's share with 58.2 percent of the overnight stays, while Gusar followed with 10 percent. 5.4 percent were recorded in Gabala, 4.8 percent in Shabran, 4.3 percent in Naftalan, 3.1 percent in Guba, 2.6 percent in Lankaran, 1.5 percent in Shamakhi, one percent in Aghdam, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and Shusha each, and 7.1 percent in hotels and hotel-type facilities in other cities and regions.
The number of overnight stays by foreigners and stateless persons increased by 11.9 percent compared to the first quarter of 2024, reaching 484,900, which accounted for 55.8 percent of all overnight stays.
Of the total number of overnight stays, 21.8 percent accounted for citizens of India, 14.3 percent from Russia, 8.8 percent from Türkiye, 6.3 percent from the UAE, 4.7 percent from Saudi Arabia, 3.3 percent from the US, 3.1 percent from Israel, three percent from Kuwait, 2.7 percent from Pakistan, 2.4 percent from China, 2.4 percent from Kazakhstan, 1.9 percent from the UK, 1.4 percent from Uzbekistan, 0.9 percent from Germany, 0.8 percent each from Bahrain, Iran, and Italy, 0.7 percent from Georgia, and 19.9 percent from other countries.
Besides, 77.5 percent of overnight stays by foreigners and stateless persons were recorded in Baku, 12.7 percent in Gusar, 3.5 percent in Naftalan, 2.7 percent in Gabala, 1.8 percent in Guba, 0.4 percent in Shamakhi, and 1.4 percent in hotels in other cities and regions.
The number of overnight stays by citizens of Azerbaijan in hotels increased by 10.8 percent compared to the period from January through March 2024, reaching 383,400, which accounted for 44.2 percent of total overnight stays.
