BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14. Tajikistan's economic growth slowed down sharply in the second quarter of 2022, Trend reports referring to the macroeconomic review of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).
According to the bank, Tajikistan's industry in May 2022 increased output by 3.8 percent year-on-year (in the first quarter, its growth was 17.1 percent compared to the same period of 2021).
In addition, investments to Tajikistan in May 2022 also decreased by 10.3 percent compared to the corresponding month of last year, while in the first three months of 2022 growth was by 9.6 percent year-on-year).
Notably, the development of the economic situation in Tajikistan is generally in line with the current EDB forecast - GDP growth in 2022 is estimated at 4.2 percent.
However, the forecast for GDP growth in Tajikistan for the current year may be raised, in particular, because a stronger ruble contributes to an increase in the inflow of remittances to Tajikistan in dollar terms.
