DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 30. The UN Secretary-General’s Early Warnings for All Initiative (EW4All), which aims to enhance the country's resilience to natural disasters, has been launched in Tajikistan, Trend reports.

According to the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, support will be provided across four directions of the initiative: knowledge about natural disaster risks, identification, observation, monitoring, analysis, and forecasting; information dissemination and timely distribution of early warnings; preparedness and response capabilities.

Sulaimon Ziyozoda, the Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan, emphasized the significance of the initiative and said that the country places great importance on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.

"The launch of the EW4All initiative is a crucial step forward in safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of Tajik communities from the impacts of climate change and other risks," UN Resident Coordinator Parvathy Ramaswami said.

The action plan of the EW4All initiative was launched at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) held in Egypt in November 2022, for further investments in disaster risk knowledge. The initiative calls for global efforts aimed at ensuring that by 2027, early warning systems are available everywhere.
