Uzbekistan establishes hydropower plants in nation's Fergana

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 11. Two hydropower plants (HPP) were inaugurated in distant sections of the Fergana region of Uzbekistan under the direction of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Trend reports.

According to the Uzbek president's office, the first HPP is a 2.2 megawatt station built in Shakhimardan village, and the second one is a 430 kilowatt station in Yoqori-Vodil village.The plants will uninterruptedly supply electricity to the residents of nearby makhallas.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has created more than 400 megawatts of new hydroelectric capacity through a $630 million investment over the past seven years. The hydroelectric capacity has been brought to 2.2 gigawatts.

The Kashkadarya region will soon be home to three hydroelectric power stations, according to an earlier announcement by Uzbekistan.

By 2025, the hydroelectric power facilities, each with a 24 MW capacity, should have been finished.

In addition, the hydroelectric power plants will be constructed on the Aksu river, passing through Gelon settlement in the Kashkadarya region.
