If the U.S. vetoes on Palestinian bid at the U.N. vote, the Middle East will have a very negative view towards the United States, Jordan's King Abdullah II told The Wall Street Journal on Sept. 19.

"And so again I think Israel is becoming more and more isolated," he added.

Palestinian officials have launched a campaign to join the United Nations as a full member state. They will ask for international recognition on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as a capital.

The idea is strongly opposed by Israel and its close ally, the United States.

Israel has responded with fury to the Palestinian move, arguing that it is a "unilateral" step that will undermine the peace process and is designed to isolate and even "delegitimize" the Jewish state.
