Iraqi government condemned on Sunday the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, describing them as "collective punishment", Xinhua reported.
"The Iraqi government condemns the Israeli air raids on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip that killed a large number of innocent victims," Ali al-Dabbagh, government spokesman said in a statement.
Dabbagh said that his government demanded immediate halt for military operations and called for avoidance of "collective punishment" against civilians.
Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber on a bicycle blew himself up amid a crowd of demonstrators in the northern city of Mosul protesting Israeli's airstrikes on Gaza, killing three people and wounding 20 others.
The attacker targeted the convoy of Muhammad Shakir al-Ghannam, head of the Iraqi Islamic party in Mosul, according to local police.
Ghannam, who escaped the attack unhurt, was arriving in his convoy at the Dawasah area in central Mosul to take part in the demonstration, the source said.
