Russian President Dimitriy Medvedev issued a decree awarding high honors to several individuals.
The honorary title of Russian Federation Honorary Physician was conferred to highly qualified medical specialist Sabir Habibov for his services in the health sector.
Habibov is a doctor of medical sciences, professor, head of the Reconstructive, Plastic and Endoscopic Surgery Department and member of the Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences, full member of the Russian Endoscopic Surgeons Society and head of the Reconstructive, Plastic and Endoscopic Surgery Department of the City Clinical Hospital No. 79 in Moscow.
Earlier, Habibov was awarded the Gold Medal from the Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences for his outstanding scientific and social achievements. He received the Distinguished Health Professional in the Russian Federation honors, as well as the Moscow Governmental Prize in 2005 for his outstanding achievements in medicine. His name was included in the book, "Famous People of Moscow - 2007."
Habibov said he is proud to be an Azerbaijani. He added that he is thankful to have been born in one of Azerbaijan's most beautiful regions, Kalbajar, which is, "under occupation" by Armenian forces.
"I am proud to be a representative of the Azerbaijani and Russian medical schools. I gave more than 35 years of my life to this noble profession. I am pleased to see the results of my work and appreciation by the Russian state," Habibov said.
