Tbilisi will hold conference on problems of media outlets in the region, organized by the Council of Europe within Switzerland's chairmanship of the Committee of the EU Ministers Apr.15-16.
The conference in Tbilisi in Tbilisi will discuss problems in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine in the sphere of security and protection of journalists, threats to freedom of speech and new opportunities for this freedom, which provide advanced technologies, the Council of Europe said.
The event's main purpose is formulating concrete recommendations to promote freedom of speech in these countries in accordance with the standards and recommendations of the Council of Europe.
OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic and Media Freedom Representative of the Association of European Journalists William Horsley will be among the keynote speakers at the conference. Representatives of governments, parliamentarians, experts in the field of media and NGOs will also address at the conference.
