Today First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva has also met with First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Zilya Valeyeva.The meeting took place at Gulustan Palace as part of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue which is underway in Baku.
Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva expressed gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan for the involvement in the Forum. The First Lady of Azerbaijan emphasized that the Forum unveiled many interesting and promising ideas related to the development of intercultural dialogue.
Ms. Zilya Valeyeva, in turn, said that she enjoyed presentations dedicated to the advocacy of intercultural dialogue, gender equality and other issues. The guest stressed the importance of Baku Forum.
On the same day, Ms Mehriban Aliyeva met former Director-General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura.
Mrs. Aliyeva underlined the importance of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. According to her, Baku has already become an area where high-level international events are held.
The First Lady recalled her meetings with UNESCO's former Director-General and how they celebrated together the Novruz holiday in Baku. She also stressed the importance of his participation in the Forum.
Matsuura, in turn, underscored the importance of the Forum for expansion of cooperation among civilizations.The former Director-General said their celebration of Novruz holiday in Baku made deep impression on him.
He also said great positive changes took place in Baku since his last visit to the city.
In addition, Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva has met with Giuli Alasaniya, Head of Georgia- Azerbaijan Friendship House, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's mother. The meeting took place at Gulustan Palace as part of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue which is underway in Baku.
Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva heartily welcomed Ms. Alasaniya and said that a wide range of joint projects implemented by Azerbaijan in conjunction with Georgia will strengthen friendly relations between two countries still more.
Ms. Alasaniya said she often travels to Baku. She emphasized that relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are based on the mutual respect and confidence. "The Baku Forum will make a huge contribution to the intercultural dialogue," Ms. Alasaniya emphasized.
Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva has also met with Rachida Dati, a French politician, Member of the European Parliament and Mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris. The meeting took place at Gulustan Palace as part of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue which is underway in Baku.
Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva welcomed the guest and said she was impressed by her speech at the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. Ms. Rachida Dati, in turn, praised the event and highly valued Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva's activity towards the encouragement of the role of women in public life.
In same day Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva has met today Deputy Culture Minister of Romania Irina Jalal Marin.Mrs. Aliyeva underlined the importance of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, expressing confidence that it will contribute to development of relations among various cultures.
The First Lady also touched upon Azerbaijan-Romania relationship, saying Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s representation is operating in Romania, as well.
Irina Jalal Marin recalled Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva`s visit to Romania. Jalal Marin also praised the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s representation in Romania.
The Deputy Culture Minister described the fact that the representation provided one of colleges in Romania with computer and other facilities as a close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania.
