The U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza called on new volunteers to share American values with the Azerbaijanis.

A oath taking ceremony of 44 Peace Corps Volunteers of the U.S. was held on Thursday. They leaned Azerbaijani language during 11 weeks and will work in 24 Azerbaijani regions, applying their knowledge, skills and experience to the development of Azerbaijani communities and organizations.

"Peace Corps Volunteers within two-year integration into Azerbaijani society will have the opportunity to study the history, culture and language of this country. After returning to the U.S. volunteers can act as unofficial ambassadors of Azerbaijan," Bryza said.

He said activity of the U.S. Embassy and Peace Corps Volunteers contribute to the establishment of cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The Peace Corps experience will enrich the lives of many Azerbaijanis, as well as volunteers, Bryza added.

The event was attended by the Deputy Education Minister Gulu Novruzov, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Intigam Babayev and Economic Development Ministry's representative.

Addressing the event Novruzov said the Peace Corps Volunteers will bring Azerbaijan's history, culture and realities to American people.

"Promotion of Azerbaijani values in the United States will prevent spread of false information by the Armenian lobby," he said.
