BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 8. Joint press conference with the participation of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi was held, Trend reports.
The event focused on the issues of bilateral relations, international and regional relations.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that 2025 was an important year for Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.
According to him, the two countries held talks on political, economic, transport and communications issues, regional security, and international relations.
The minister stated that the Agband-Kelala Bridge connecting Azerbaijan and Iran is scheduled to open in the first months of 2026.
"2025 was a very successful year for Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. In 2024, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran amounted to approximately $650 million, and in the first 10 months of 2025, it was approximately $520 million," he emphasized.
In turn, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated in his speech that Iran supports the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Araghchi noted the importance of continuing negotiations in the "3+3" format.
He also added that today, Iran and Azerbaijan held discussions in political, economic, cultural, and other areas.
According to the minister, the most important agreement to date is increasing the number of visits to continue negotiations and consultations.
"We strive to elevate relations between the two countries to a high level and eliminate misunderstandings.
Iran is interested in expanding ties with Azerbaijan. This will increase trade between the two countries. Negotiations were also held in the energy sector," he noted.
