Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 September /corr. TrendNews I.Alizade / Georgian language courses commenced functioning at 50 Azerbaijani schools in Georgia in order to ensure integration of the Georgian Azerbaijanis into the Georgian society, a source said at the State Committee for Work with Azerbaijanis in Foreign Countries.
According to unofficial information, 500,000 Azerbaijanis reside in Georgia. Some 124 Azerbaijani schools function in the territories densely populated by the Azerbaijanis in Georgia.
Georgian courses opened at 50 Azerbaijani schools involve nearly 1,000 pupils. Mainly pupils of senior forms will be trained in the courses. Moreover, those who finished Azerbaijani schools this year and could not enter higher education institution due to poor knowledge of Georgian language will be trained in the courses.
Committee stated that the courses will be taught both by Georgian and Azerbaijani teachers, who know the Georgian language. Their wages will be provided due to funds allocated for this project.
