Türkiye reveals volume of cargo transshipment from Algeria to its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Turkish ports handled 3.7 million tons of cargo from Algeria from January through May 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told Trend.

According to the ministry, vessels under the Turkish flag delivered 110,549 tons of cargo from Algeria to domestic ports, while vessels under the flags of other countries delivered 2.7 million tons.

During this period, 963,900 tons of cargo were delivered to the ports by ships under the Algeria flag. During the reporting period, 154,367 tons of transit cargo were transported from Algeria to the ports.

At the same time, the ports of Türkiye handled 35.4 million tons of cargo only in May 2023.

During the specified period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of the country through domestic ports amounted to 2.5 million tons.

Cargo transportation via the ports of Türkiye by ships under the flags of other countries reached 32.9 million tons.

In addition, in May 2023, the ports handled 5.5 million tons of transit cargo.

Turkish ports handled 160.7 million tons of cargo in the first five months of 2023.

In the accounting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of the country reached 11.4 million tons, while cargo transportation through the ports of the country by ships under the flags of other countries totaled 149.3 million tons.

Overall, the Turkish ports handled 28.9 million tons of transit cargo from January through May 2023.
