BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. A total of 5.7 million tons of cargo were handled by sea ports in Azerbaijan, from January through May 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that this figure rose by 128,000 tons or 2.3 percent compared to the same period of last year.
In the reporting period, 4.66 million tons or 81.8 percent of the total volume consisted of transit cargo, which is an increase of 195,500 tons or 4.4 percent compared to the first five months of 2024.
As of June 1, 2025, the volume of cargo remaining at the ports amounted to 220,100 tons.
During the same period, the number of passengers transported by this mode of transport decreased by 4.6 percent compared to the same period of 2024, totaling 10,400 people.
