Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 September / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / "The State program on reliable supply of the Azerbaijani people with food products in 2008-2015" is designated basically to change water supply of regions and considerably to improve melioration state of land," Ahmad Ahmadzade, the chairman of the Melioration and Water Economy Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) told Khalg Gazeti newspaper.
According to Ahmadzade, within the framework of the state program it is envisaged to specify lands losing fertility, to develop their maps and proposals on their use, to determine lands in need of melioration and to devise their large-scale maps.
The State program includes increasing number of water consumers, improving mechanisms to deliver irrigation water to agriculture producers and supply them with economic and financial efficiency.
In accordance with the program, it is planned to build water reservoir on the Shamkir river, main canal from pumping station in Neftchala, water reservoir on the Takhtakorpu and Topvuzchay river, as well as canals Valvalachay-Takhtakorpu and Takhtakorpu-Jeyranbatan.
"The State program on reliable supply of the Azerbaijani people with food products in 2008-2015" targets to stimulate producion growth of agricultural products in the country and to improve further supply of people with food through local production.
The public budget, non-budget funds, local budgets, direct interior and foreign investments are financial sources to carry out these measures.
